Micho wants Shonga and Mulenga to get over Zambia loss

Cape Town – Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic wants Augustine Mulenga and Justin Shonga to get past their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) disappointment with Zambia ahead of Saturday's clash with Kaizer Chiefs.

The pair were involved for the Copper Bullets in the 1-0 defeat to Mozambique which ended the side's chances of reaching the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon in 2019.

Mulenga and Shonga have been key performers for Pirates at times this season and were in sparkling form when the Sea Robbers beat Chiefs 2-1 in the league last month.

As such, Sredojevic urged his forwards to pick themselves up ahead of facing the Glamour Boys in a keenly-anticipated Telkom Knockout semi-final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.

"You know, one big country like Zambia for a second consecutive time does not go to Africa Cup of Nations, [it] is a huge setback. We have received them and for them it's like the end of the world, but fully aware that life is still ahead of them and they can still serve the nation in the best possible way in 2021.

"I have strong belief that when the disappointment comes of losing something, if you have too much time without action then it's too much in your head and it's killing you. But when the match comes the best way to wash out the pain is by doing everything you are supposed to do on the pitch."

Kick-off is at 15:00.
