Did you know that Julie Andrews has lent her voice to the DC film Aquaman?

The Sound of Music star will voice the mythical character Karathen in the latest superhero film.

The hills seas are alive with the sound of … Julies voice, clearly.

We thought we knew the entire line-up for the film but it seems as if the filmmakers managed to sneak one up on fans.

The Oscar-winning star will be playing a key role in the Warner Brothers upcoming film, EW reports.

The publication revealed the Hollywood veteran is voicing the previously secret role, an underwater creature that plays an important part in Aquamans journey.

We cant help but wonder if this help will come as a mate or enemy?

Producer Peter Safran said: We wanted the Karathen to have the voice of a classic British actress, albeit somewhat digitally altered.

And when we found out Julie was interested and available and excited to do it, casting her was a no-brainer.

Andrews casting proves to be rather ironic as the DC film will be released two days after Disneys Mary Poppins Returns, the sequel to Andrews 1964 film.

Despite co-star Dick Van Dyke reprising his role in the new film, Julie will not be starring. Instead, Emily Blunt has taken on the mantle to play Poppins.

Aquaman is set to be the sixth installment in the expanding DC movie universe, following Man Of Steel, Batman V Superman, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and Justice League.

Aquaman hits cinemas from 21 December.

The most recent trailer opens with Aquaman aka Arthur Curry, discussing his parents whom he says were from different worlds, adding: I was the product of a love that never should have been.

As the son of a human lighthouse keeper and an Atlantean queen, Arthur is the rightful heir to the throne. Or as its so eloquently put in the teaser: A son of the land and a son of the seas.

This leads him to embark on a mission with Mera to unite the kingdoms of Atlantis.

Mera states: Your mother always knew you were special… Take your rightful place as king.
