Cape Town – Kaizer Chiefs striker Leonardo Castro is keen to reach the Telkom Knockout final with a win in a Soweto Derby rematch over arch rivals Orlando Pirates at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, on Saturday.
"It's special to play Orlando Pirates in the semi-final of the Telkom Knockout," Castro told the Kaizer Chiefs website. "It promises to be an interesting match and we have to take it, as we want to go through."
The Colombian striker within his first six months in the country lifted the 2015 Telkom Knockout trophy with Mamelodi Sundowns, beating Kaizer Chiefs in the final. Castro even scored the opening goal in a 3-1 win. "It was exciting to win that cup."
The 29-year-old, however, doesn't want to focus too much on that previous Telkom Knockout victory. "Every trophy is important," he pointed out.
Castro also touched on the recent Soweto Derby loss. Amakhosi took an early 1-0 ahead in the Absa Premiership encounter thanks to Khama Billiat, before the Buccaneers scored twice in the space of five minutes to win 2-1.
"We made a few mistakes," he said. "We didn't really play good football on the day. However, we have since worked hard on fixing those mistakes and we are positive to get a result on Saturday.
"We don't want to miss out on an opportunity to reach a cup final, although we will take it step-by-step.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
