When Nick Knowles confessed in the Bush Telegraph that hed had a jam session with Biffy Clyro on a roof, we were imagining a full Beatles level gig.

But it turns out the Im A Celebrity campmate may have been exaggerating slightly.

Biffy Clyro drummer Ben Johnston has played down Nicks claims that he was offered a record deal after playing with the Scottish rockers on a roof.

Speaking to Greg James on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, Johnston explained: Hes been a bit fast and loose with the truth there.

It was more like eight years ago, and it was after an awards ceremony. We came back to this hotel in Soho and wed been informed that Nick Knowles had bought us a bottle of champagne to celebrate on the roof!

He was lovely, we had a drink and we left and there might have been a guitar there.

Not exactly the killer jam sesh we were imagining.

Johnston continued: He was a nice guy! Im not gonna say anything bad about him, Mr Nick Knowles, he was lovely.

But I dont think its quite the Kum Ba Yah situation that everyone might have in their heads. Im really sorry to shatter the illusion that we had a proper heavy jam with Nick Knowles, because that did not happen Im afraid.

Its a half truth. We were in the same rooftop bar at the same time, and he was very nice.

However, while Nick may not be joining Biffy – like his edited Wikipedia page suggests – the Many Of Horror band may have a job for him.

Johnston joked: Itd be quite handy if he could help us put the stage and take it down with his amazing carpentry skills. Well keep his hat in the ring.

Nick had Im A Celeb viewers in stitches when he casually name-dropped Biffy Clyro while discussing how he recorded an album.

The 56-year-old said: Ive always played. My brothers a really good musician and Ive always played along with him and a couple of years ago somebody heard me, I was playing on a rooftop bar in Soho with some other bands…

More: I'm A Celebrity

Somebody from a record company saw me doing it and I got a phone call saying, “Im from Universal, want to do an album?”

Its probably best not to say who they are because it would be embarrassing for them more than anything else. Actually, they wont mind, theyre nice lads: it was Biffy Clyro.

Dec Donnelly and Holly Willoughby had great fun with the confession, attempting to get #BiffyClyroNotEmbarrassedTheyJammedWithNickKnowlesTrending.

And its after doing Nick a favour – after the show, he rocketed to number one in the iTunes downloads chart.

Good old Biffy Clyro.
