The Harry Potter fandom have proved themselves to be a very vigilant bunch, who know every single part of the wizarding world JK Rowling has put together.

When they think theyve uncovered a slight plot hole, theyre not even slightly phased about voicing their concerns.

And so some were a little confused over Dumbledore – played by Jude Law – and his past, in the latest instalment of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald.

The Harry Potter books – The Deathly Hallows, to be more specific – states Albus friendship with Grindelwald ended after a three-way duel with his brother Aberforth, which led to Ariana Dumbledores death, and Grindelwald fleeing very quickly after.

But, according to Digital Spy, the prequel claims the pair made a blood pact with each other, in order to make sure they never fight, which meant everyones favourite Hogwarts headmasters hands were tied over Grindelwalds dark revolution.

Were not exactly sure when said pact was meant to have happened because it never got mentioned in the seven original books.

If it was before their duel, they technically should have died the second they raised their wands in the fight, and we cant really imagine Grindelwald stopping for a quick blood pact before running the hell away.

Considering Aberforth went into intense detail about the duel, as well as his own part in it and his brothers actions, were sure he wouldve mentioned that?

It turns out were not the only fans a little confused about the whole thing, with viewers flocking to Twitter to ask what is happening.

One asked: Briefly about #FantasticBeasts wtf??? Aurelius Dumbledore?? Whats happening?

While another said: #FantasticBeasts The Crimes of Grindelwald, youre a lot. As a #1 Potterhead I want to like this movie badly but its just so all over the place. I did really love Jude Law (crushin SO hard on young Dumbledore over here), Zoë Kravitz and Kim Soo-hyun in it.

And a baffled viewer posted: I had watched the new #FantasticBeasts yesterday and I just cant wrap my head around Dumbledores brother …. @jk_rowling you killin me.

Seeing as there are three more Fantastic Beasts films on the way, were guessing JK Rowling has the answers to all these questions and more already ironed out.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald is out in cinemas now.
