Will Audrey lose another man she loves in a New Year tragedy or will Lewis reveal his true colours and end up being bumped off? Step away from those hair straighteners, Auds, hes not worth it…

Love is in the Dales air

Next year, there is going to be a romantic proposal so we can only expect that the characters in question might be already starting to toy with the idea of the big commitment come Christmas time. So who is set to pop the question?

Jane teased: We have a proposal next year between two of our characters – itll be a very romantic proposal but Ill leave you to work out who thats between!

Kates big mistake in Coronation Street

Desperate to have a baby, Kate is keen to have Robert as a sperm donor for herself and Rana – despite Rana being less than keen on starting a family at this stage. But things will get even worse when Kate makes the mistake of trying to seduce Adam as a plan B.

Thankfully, hope lies on the horizon and the return of Imogen acts as a catalyst to get the fractured relationship back on track so a 2019 wedding may still be on the cards!

Hit and run horror in Coronation Street

Christmas is going to have a shocking sting in the tail for poor Liz as she is run down and left for dead in a shocking hit and run incident – but will she survive? And who is behind it? Fans will likely suspect Jenny or even the malicious fake daughter, Hannah.

But its Johnny who looks set to end up cuffed by police – have they got the right culprit?

Dingle bells!

Mandy Dingle is back in Emmerdale
(Picture: ITV)

Mandy is coming home for a stint in the new year – given that the tinsel is still up in her promo picture for the comeback, it doesnt sound like we have long to wait. But she is about to explode a major secret…

Producer Kate Brookes enthused: Iconic Mandy Dingle returns to the village carrying a secret that turns lives upside down. Shes a character bursting with fun who certainly ruffles a few feathers during her short stint back in the village, and she clearly hasnt lost any of the joie de vivre that made Mandy so popular and enjoyable to watch. Were delighted to welcome Lisa back to Emmerdale.

Nativity joy in Coronation Street

Speaking more on the festive plans, he said: Well, the seeds of the stories for Christmas are planted in the big episodes in October, without giving too much away. I wanted it to be a Christmassy Christmas, obviously theres a history in soap of trying to go and do the Angie and Den Christmas where its all acrimony and divorce papers and vitriol.

Thats not really my preference, when you sit down as you try and digest your stuffing balls and sprouts, you need it to be warm and light-hearted in places and you need it to reek of Christmas. So, itll be a Christmassy Christmas, itll have some big, heartbreaking stories within that, itll have a big shock at the end and hopefully itll be a surprising pay off to those stories that youve just seen the inception of here.

Classic EastEnders darkness

It looks like a completely different story over in Walford way. We asked a number of cast members what is in store this Christmas and all of them agreed that it would be silly to detract too far from EastEnders usual formula.

So expect darkness, grit and showdowns!
