Burnett nabs Margaret River Captains Trophy win

It was a busy week at the Margaret River Golf Club with the Veterans kicking the week off with their 9-hole stableford event.

Ken Miles took out first place with 22 points, Richard Deshon came in second place with 21cb points and Abe Huisken was close behind in third place wtih 21 points.

The Captains Trophy Womens 18-hole Stroke event had Rosie Burnett in first place with 67 points, while in second place was Kerry Farrelly with 71 points. Third place went to Angie Burges with a score of 74cb points.

The Club would like to thank Margaret River Cowaramup Electrical Services for sponsoring the Mens 4BBB Championship event held over two days of play on Thursday and Saturday. The overall winners across the two days of golfing were Graeme Payne and Robert Young with 49 points, while the runners up were Marc Dickson and Bernard Shaw who ended on 46 points.

Fridays mixed 9-hole stableford event had First Man going to Peter Brennan on 19 points.

First Woman was Mary Taylor with 20 points and Overall Third went to Colleen Marks on 19cb points.

While no one was lucky enough to score the biggest prize on offer, a brand new Lexus for scoring a Hole In One, the day was a great success with plenty of winning performances.

The Lexus Cup was held on Sunday, where the region put on perfect weather conditions for the 18 hole mixed Stableford event.

A visiting group from Lexus were in town for the day with some prizes on offer, including the opportunity to secure a brand new car by landing a Hole In One.

While no one was lucky enough to score the biggest prize on offer, the day was a great success with plenty of winning performances.

Chris Watson from Marri Park Ladies Golf Club took out first place with 46 points, while Margaret Rivers Ash Barridge secured second place with 41 points. Third position was landed by another Margaret River club member, Michael Kelly, who ended with a score of 38cb points.
