When Christina Aguilera, Genie In A Bottle legend and owner of some cracking voice pipes, offers to sing a song with you, you say yes – right?

Wrong. Despite having one of the most impressive voices of her generation, the 37-year-old was turned down recently when she asked a band whether she could get up on stage with them in a bar.

According to Billboard, reggae band Claude Bryant And The All Stars were doing their regular set in New Orleans when they shaded Christina. Speaking during one of her own gigs, she told the audience that the bands lead singer didnt recognise her.

She can be heard in a video shared by Twitter user Marchaund Jones telling the crowd: I go to this little bar and theres this live band playing, and I was with a couple of my dancers and the whole thing and I was just like, “Let me just get up on stage and jam with this guy. Maybe Ill sing a song or whatever, itll be fun.'”

She added: He would not give me the mic. He was, like, a little older and he was just like, he was not feeling it. He was not gonna give up his mic. I was like, “Oh, I just want to come up.'”

Awkward.

The bands singer has since apologised to the Lady Marmalade hitmaker, and admitted that he didnt know who she was at the time.

I didnt recognise her because she had a cap over here head and over her eyes, he told WGNO.

She was in a jersey. She didnt introduce herself to me, but she had very soft hands and that got my attention.

Guess that means that it doesnt matter how talented or famous you are, sometimes youll get turned down. Reassuring.
