The film is based on the video game of the same name which was released on Nintendo 3DS earlier this year.

It is a joint venture between America and Japan and sees the Detective Pikachu join up with a character called Tim Goodman to find out what has happened to his father.

Warner Bros released a first look at the new film earlier this week with a trailer that shows various pokemon appearing in the live-action world.
