Jesy Nelson has opened up about her severe lack of confidence in the early days of Little Mix as the band graced the front cover of ASOS magazine this week.

The singer, 27, didnt hold back as she revealed how miserable she was when the band first rose to prominence, as she took trolling and the perceived thoughts of others to heart.

During the interview Jesy recalled the time and, according to the article, started to cry.

When I first started out, I struggled. I never thought I would get over thinking people thought certain things about me. I still get upset when I talk about it, she told the publication. Ill never get those years back.

I was so miserable, I should have been enjoying my fucking life. This is why we feel so passionate about what were saying on this album. The more we talk about it, the better it will be for kids growing up. We want people to know theyre not alone.

Perrie Edwards also spoke about the beauty of the group – who also sports members Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirwall – preaching powerful messages through their music and social media.

You open a magazine … or youre scrolling through a website and every girl is stick thin and a bikini looks unreal on them. Im thinking, “Well, I aint gonna look like that in Mykonos”, Perrie said, not long after she indeed did look banging in Mykonos, if we do say so ourselves. You cant escape it. Things like Instagram or magazine covers are a tiny percentage of a lifestyle that people want you to see, its never the whole picture. I think now more than ever the world needs an album like LM5.

Were gonna keep fucking preaching until it sinks in – we want to empower women and ourselves.

Hear hear!

The populars groups appearance on the glossy fashion mag, however, comes as their former boss Simon Cowell revealed the reason behind the decision to part professional ways, as the singers left Simons Syco label recently.

It was previously rumoured they parted ways due to a row with their management company Modest, which the music mogul and X Factor judge has now explained in detail.

Speaking to The Sun, Simon said the argument emerged over a songwriting credit for their latest hit single Woman Like Me, a track he claimed they didnt even want to record.

It was just embarrassing but, funnily enough, I was more annoyed, again, not about me, but about the fact people who had worked so hard in my company were being misrepresented, Cowell said. Why do artists think theyre more important than staff members? Theyre not. Theyre the same.

The irony was the record they were arguing about, which is Woman Like Me, they didnt want to record. This was one of those ironic times that we were having a hit and nobody was happy.

Praising the group as the hardest working in the bizz, he added his decision wasnt financial: Basically, they said wed done a terrible job. I had agreed not to talk about this publicly because I thought it was a private matter. I said, “We cant work with the management, its as simple as that.”

The Party issue of ASOS magazine is out now.
