Michelle Rodriguez was forced to drop her ego for new Steve McQueen film after 20 years of Fast & Furious
Michelle Rodriguez had admitted that she needed to drop her ego after spending almost 20 years working on the Fast And Furious films.
The 40-year-old actress is known for her work on action thrillers but stars in Steve McQueens new drama Widows, a critically acclaimed look into the world of crime and gang culture in Chicago.
And in this exclusive clip, speaking to Metro.co.uk, Michelle admits that she took on the role because she was in need of a challenge and to go back to the roots and work with people who are more interested in the human story than the action thrill.
I felt like this character would help me grow and help me drop my ego, first and foremost, and then allow me to discover the side of femininity I didnt think I had, she added.
Viola Davis – whom Michelle called a force – Elizabeth Debecki and Cynthia Erivo all also star in the film, with the four women playing the titular widows whose husbands are killed when a planned heist goes wrong; they then must complete the con.

The matriarch environment was refreshing, said Michelle, who said that she is keen to experience that more often on sets, and who praised Viola for her ability to be laughing with you and then four minutes later she is delivering the performance of a lifetime.
The speed in to which she can tune in and tune out… she is a machine and it is beautiful to watch.
Widows is out in cinemas now.
