Hodgson knows nothing of Wan-Bissaka to Man City link

Cape Town – Roy Hodgson says it's a massive compliment that Manchester City are being linked with Aaron Wan-Bissaka but knows nothing about a potential deal for the talented full-back.

The 20-year-old defender has impressed for the Eagles this season, prompting rumours of a January switch.

Wan-Bissaka is a former Palace youth player, who was promoted to the senior side by former boss Frank De Boer.

Under Hodgson, the England U21 international has continued to thrive and has been a regular in the Premier League this season.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, Hodgson said: "I've got absolutely no idea if there's any truth to the subject at all.

"You'd have to ask Pep Guardiola and I very much doubt whether he'd give you an answer anyway."

He added: "But it's good I suppose that there are people out there writing stories, who see the quality of Bissaka and appreciate what he's been doing and linking [him] with another club.

"But as far as we're concerned of course we have him as our player, he's under contract with us and we have no desire or intention of selling him so it's certainly not anything which occupies my waking moments or sleeping moments either for that matter."

He concluded: "I'm happy he's here. I'm happy he's playing well. I'm happy his skills are being recognised and long may that continue."
