Stella Bella Best in Show | 2018 Margaret River Wine Show

The Stella Bella Wines team is celebrating after taking home a whopping six trophies from the 2018 Langtons Margaret River Wine Show including the Wine of Show.

Chief winemaker Luke Jolliffe said it was an outstanding recognition of the Stella Bella team.

“We work tirelessly to create the best possible wines from our southern Margaret River vineyards,” he said.

“All of our vineyards are unique in their own right giving each wine its own individuality and personality. It is awesome to see our efforts acknowledged and awarded in our own backyard and on a national stage.

“We have had an overwhelming response to the 2017 Suckfizzle Chardonnay, we have sold out completely at the cellar door.

“This wine has been a long time in the making. It is a single vineyard wine made from just three rows of Gin Gin clone Chardonnay in our most southern and unique vineyard. I have always believed in the potential of this fruit and have dreamt of creating a pure and powerful wine that expresses this site, showing its difference from the rest of the Margaret River region.”

Viticulturist of the Year, Stella Bellas Steve Martin said their successes in the vineyard came down to attention to detail, and letting the climate work its magic on the fruit.

“Our farming practices aim to improve soils and maintain vine health,” he said. “This gives us the ability to make subtle changes, responding to the season and surrounding environment.

“Growing fruit that reflects the climate, soil and character of southern Margaret River. It is great to see the importance and scope of viticulture recognised by this award.

“Its sounds cliché but this is a totally a team effort.”

The show attracted 112 exhibitors and 723 entries to its 17th incarnation, with judging held at Ramada Resort Dunsborough and the Gala Dinner at Leeuwin Estate.

Langtons Head of Sales Alex Jenkins said the group was proud to sponsor the show. “The Margaret River Wine Association is doing a tremendous job shining a light on this unique and important Australian wine region,” he said.

“We hope to help recognise and reward the many men and women who work tirelessly in the pursuit of excellence.

“We congratulate not only all the winners of the awards, but the community as a whole, who's constant drive for excellence as a region deserves to be recognised."

Third-time Chair of Judges, Corrina Wright from Olivers Taranga said “Again, Margaret River showed that it is a quadruple-threat region, with Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon leading the charge, Semillon/Sauvignon blends and Rose fast picking up speed.”

Ms Wright led the team of 21 judges and associate judges who awarded 368 medals, 54 Gold, 83 Silver and 231 Bronze, in addition to following major trophies and awards:
