Laffor frustrated by injury woes for Sundowns

Cape Town – Mamelodi Sundowns forward Anthony Laffor says he has been frustrated by injuries in recent times for the club but is hopeful of winning a place back in the starting line-up soon.

The Liberia star struggled with injuries last season and made just 11 Premiership appearances for the Brazilians.

The 33-year-old has also had some knocks to contend with in 2018/19 and is yet to make a match-day squad for the Pitso Mosimane-coached outfit.

Nonetheless, Laffor says he is hopeful of making his mark for the side in the near future though he is fully supportive of the rest of his team-mates.

He said: "I got injured in training and I was recovering well. I went to play for my country and after the game against Congo I got injured on my knee. But soon you guys will see me on the pitch.

"It's frustrating, but it's football. The only thing you need to do is be humble and keep your feet on the ground. That's the most important thing.

"That's what I have been doing. The guys in the team have been doing well and I am very much supportive.

"For me I don't pay attention to individuals, I pay attention to what the team is doing. When the team is doing well I am happy, and I just hope and pray that I get the groove very soon.

"We [Liberia] also have a game against Zimbabwe very soon, so I need to prepare very well and see how best I can handle the situation. I am not far [from making a return]."
