Coronation Street spoilers: Melissa Johns returns as Kates ex Imogen for Rana reunion storyline
Coronation Street is bringing back Kate Connors ex-girlfriend Imogen later this year, Metro.co.uk can reveal, as Melissa Johns has returned to film a few episodes for the show as it heads towards Christmas. Fans may remember that Kate and fiery Imogen got on very well – but it was the first indication that Rana was harbouring feelings for Kate as her jealousy led to tension between her and Imogen.
Imogen and Kates romance fizzled out and down the line, she then found her true love in the form of Rana. After overcoming a lot together – including the breakdown of Ranas marriage to Zeedan and the reaction of her parents to her coming out – the pair are stronger than ever and engaged to be married.
There is trouble on the horizon – after all, this IS soapland – and the Kana fandom have been left worried about what the future holds when Kates grief for Aidan and desperation to start a family leads her to make some colossal mistakes, including a pass at Adam Barlow.

However, rather than throw a spanner in the works, the reappearance of Imogen looks set to bring the estranged couple back together once more.
Our TV source told Metro.co.uk: Imogen is not back for Kate, nor is there an indication that they will reunite in any way – in fact, its Rana who has most contact with her and conversations could make her see that what she and Kate have is worth fighting for.
There are hurdles ahead but the engagement and Kate and Ranas love for each other are the real deal. Imogen acts as a catalyst for the pair reuniting, dealing with the issues that have arisen between them and moving forwards with their relationship.
Pressed on whether Kana fans do have hope on the horizon, they teased: The wedding is still very much on the cards. Kate and Rana will reunite and like all strong couples in soap, they will find a way to come through the rocky times. The wedding will be back on.
