Orange Kmart closed: Staff continue to assess damage from Friday nights storm

The Kmart store in Orange is unlikely to reopen until mid-week.

Shoppers were met with closed shutters at the in Orange store on Saturday morning when the store was unable to open due to damage from Friday nights storm.

Kmart Australia Limited head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Tracie Walker confirmed that the store would not reopen this weekend.

“Regarding our Orange store we are still assessing the damage and at this stage the store will reopen this Wednesday,” she said.

According to a sign posted at the store, the business would be closed “until further notice”.

Despite the notice, an eye-witnesses reported seeing several disappointed shoppers who were waiting outside the closed doors in the hope that it would reopen mid-morning.

The eye-witness said some people tried to look through the closed barrier to see inside while other people made other plans accepting the closure was unavoidable.
