Benedict Cumberbatch has addressed the fate of Stephen Strange and we have to admit things arent looking too good at the minute.

The actor, whose character was a victim of Thanos Snap at the end of Infinity War, didnt sound all that positive when quizzed on the potential of a return for Avengers 4 next year.

While, sure, he isnt about to give away a massive plotline as to his return, he sort of went the complete opposite and shattered our heart in the process.

Im dust, baby, Cumberbatch said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, not wasting any time or mincing his words. Im just out there. Im in the ether. Im probably part of your food chain. Im in your stomach somewhere.

While hes not able to chat about any potential role in the next flick just yet, he was more than happy to chat about his role in Infinity War, waxing lyrical on how amped he was just to be involved in the thing, released earlier this year.

Its amazing, he added to Fallon. Its ludicrous. It just gets sort of giddy and unreal, to be honest…I mean, just being part of that franchise is a kick, let alone the people I got to have screen time with and the story that I was sort of part of.

I mean, it was really extraordinary to do and even more weird and wonderful to see it roll out and get that kind of reception.

To be honest, hes keeping schtum on something we totally already know the answer too, as Doctor Strange 2 was confirmed by MCU boss Kevin Feige not all that long ago – meaning hes going to have survived the Snap in some manner.

Also, theories have been swinging about suggesting Doctor Strange will be behind the reversal of the Snap or at least saving half the population who were wiped out by it.

Spider-Mans Tom Holland also spoiled a potential return of Strange, after he said he will be delivering lines in the upcoming flick about the Quantum Realm.

So theres that.

Avengers 4 is in cinemas 26 April, 2019.
