Ariana Grande references Pete Davidson and angel Mac Miller in new single Thank U, Next as singer reveals shes moved on
Pete Davidson and Mac Miller both get a name check in Ariana Grandes new single as the singer reveals shes already met someone new.
The 25-year-old dropped her new track just 30 minutes before Petes Saturday Night Live aired, so you may be forgiven for thinking we were being hit with a diss track.
Quite the opposite, it would seem.
While Ariana is clearly ready to move on, baked right into the title Thank U, Next, she seems to want to take a moment to reflect on her past relationships and what she learned from them.
Her two most recent and potentially most painful splits get mentioned within the first few lines, with her thanking both Pete Davidson and Mac Miller, who died in September, for their time together.
In the first verse she sings: And for Pete, Im so thankful / Wish I could say, “Thank you” to Malcolm / cause he was an angel.

In the rest of the track she thanks her exes for a multitude of things, while also revealing shes already met someone new – herself.
She sings: Spend more time with my friends / I aint worried bout nothin / Plus, I met someone else.
We havin better discussions / I know they say I move on too fast / But this one gon last.
”Cause her name is Ari.
Ariana goes on to sing how when she gets married itll be a one time deal, hinting at knowing her engagement to Pete was never quite right.
The track will come from her forthcoming fifth album of the same name.
The polite acknowledgement of their relationship comes after Ariana took to Twitter to slam Pete for clinging to relevancy, and in which she teased the new single.
The pop singer appeared to drag her ex-fiance about staying relevant just hours after a promo teased Petes premature proposal gag.
Ariana tweeted: For somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh. She then wrote Thank u, next and retweeted a fan message that said: Tag urself Im Maggie.
