FaceOf: Majed bin Mohammed Al-Mazyed, deputy governor at the Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission

Majed bin Mohammed Al-Mazyed is the deputy governor for technology and infrastructure at the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC).

CITC is the information and communications technology regulator in Saudi Arabia, and its vision is to advance the Saudi communications and information technology sector through regulation to achieve a competitive environment and an attractive ecosystem for investors.

Al-Mazyeds responsibilities include creating the proper climate to encourage fair competition, as well as achieving the principles of equality, transparency and non-discrimination while protecting the public interest as well as the interests of users and investors.

The member states of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the UN communications and information technology arm, elected Al-Mazyed as vice president of the Plenipotentiary Conference of ITU recently held in Dubai.

Al-Mazyed said that the selection of the Kingdoms representative as vice president of the conference is a result of Saudi Arabias international standing and the confidence it has of its member states.

Al-Mazyed earned his bachelors degree in electrical engineering (general telecommunications) from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 2002.

He received his masters degree in engineering management from Washington University in St. Louis in 2014. In 2015, he earned an executive certificate in management and leadership from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
