A Los Angeles sandwich shop has been transformed into McDowells from the 1988 box office hit Coming to America to celebrate Halloween.

The owners of Fat Sals in Hollywood took fancy dress to a whole new level for the second consecutive year and its been a sure-fire hit.

Its a testament to the popularity and genius of this film, co-owner Josh Stone told Forbes. Coming to America is the epitome of a timeless comedic masterpiece.

Coming to America, which featured a star-studded cast including Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall and James Earl Jones, told the story of African prince Akeem Joffer, who travels to Queens, New York City, to look for a wife. In a bid to find the woman of his dreams, who is not influenced by his wealth, he goes undercover as a waiter fast food restaurant McDowells.

Attention has been paid to details for the pop-up with staff wearing McDowells plaid uniforms and special restaurants menu which includes things like Zamunda fries.

This years Halloween makeover is extra special because 2018 marks the films 30th anniversary.

Fat Sals wanted to pay homage to it in an outlandish yet respectful way. From the food to the costumes to the setting to the sound we are firing on all cylinders. Fat Sals is going to transport you to 1988 Queens, NY McDowells.

Back in April, Paramount confirmed that there was a Coming To America sequel in the works.

The original was a hit at the box office and became the studios highest earning movie in 1988 making $288m (£233m) worldwide.

According to reports from Deadline, Eddie is expected to reprise his role, but no official word as yet.
