Nyngan Public School celebrated their 40th anniversary on Friday October 26 with a birthday breakfast and a donation to Camp Quality.

The following day marked 40 years since the school was established on Cathunderil Street.

As part of the celebration, childrens cancer charity not-for-profit Camp Quality convoy stopped at the school on the third last day of their tour.

“They had breakfast with us in the morning and there were 182 of them and 90 cars,” Nyngan Public School principal Kylee Pearce said.

“The cars were all dressed up with emblems and decorations and they raised money during their trip.

“Nyngan Public School and their Parents and Citizens Association presented them with a cheque for $1200.”

Ms Pearce said the event was “well-enjoyed by young and old”.

“There was a past student who attended, Melissa Trigg and she was part of the Camp Quality tour, and Shaddy who was a Camp Quality participant who turned 40 cut the cake for us,” she said.

Ms Pearce said grandparents, parents and children attended and many current students were the third generation to be taught there.

“The change in available resources and the technological advancement over the last 40 years was a point of discussion among the visitors,” principal Pearce said.

The event included the cutting of the cake, cheque presentation and the opportunity for students to look at the cars.

“Students formed a guard of honour and the cars drove through, on their way to Canowindra,” Ms Pearce said.

“As principal I was proud to be able to share this celebration with our whole school community.”

She said the success of the event was because of the “dedication” of staff and families.

“It was a great experience for our students and enjoyed by children and adults alike,” Ms Pearce said.

She thanked staff, families and parents who devoted their time and effort to organising the event.

Camp Qualitys annual motoring adventure esCarpade drove from Bathurst to Wagga Wagga between October 20-27.

This year themed cars were part of the week-long rally which stopped in Nyngan on October 25 to showcase their wacky designs and help raise funds and awareness for children who are impacted by cancer.
