Josh Cuthbert has announced his departure from Union J after seven years.

Remaining bandmembers Jaymi Hensley and JJ Hamblett did not seem happy about the news, which comes two years after George Shelleys exit, reportedly tweeting and then deleting a statement captioned Not cool.

Tweets from the official account allegedly slammed Joshs decision to make a solo announcement on Thursday night, when things should have just been handled differently.

This statement should have come to you as a joint statement, read one tweet, screengrabbed by a fan.

Sadly once again that decision was taken into ones personal matters. There is no beef what so ever, things should have just been handled differently.

A representative for Union J has been contacted by Metro.co.uk for comment.

The tweets, which were swiftly deleted, followed Joshs personal Twitter announcement entitled, A little note from me.

Hed written: My journey with Union J has been one to remember, and something I will cherish forever.

But after seven years, I feel like now is the right time for me to leave the band.

Id like to apologise to my incredible fans if Ive let anyone down, but I had to do what feels right for me and follow my heart.

Josh said he wanted to continue to develop personal opportunities in entertainment and music.

And insisting that he was still close with his bandmates, he added: I have so many beautiful memories with them and have friends for life in the boys and wish JJ and Jaymi the best for the future.

George left the band in March 2016 under equally confusing circumstances.

The band claimed that they asked George to leave the group because they were over his diva behaviour, however a spokesperson for George told Metro.co.uk: It was a mutual decision for George to leave Union J so he could focus on his broadcasting and acting career.

Last April, the band went on as a trio after the decision to replace George with Casey Johnson was axed.

And it looked like big things were planned when Josh teased a collaboration with a massive A-lister in August.

Though thanks to Joshs unexpected departure and JJs pursuit of acting, it leaves the future of Union J in the balance.
