Someone gave the restaurant in Mrs Doubtfire a one-star review for shoddy security

Doesnt it suck when youre just trying to have a lovely dinner with your partner, only for you nearly to choke to death and then discover the elderly woman at your table is actually your partners ex in disguise?

So you can understand the anger of one S Dunmeyer, who complained about his experiences at a swanky restaurant in Danville, California.

The restaurant Bridges received a rather negative review from one diner on TripAdvisor – and the incident sounds rather familiar…

The review, entitled Needs better security in the kitchen, from Mr Dunmeyer goes as follows: I went with my new girlfriend to Bridges to take her out for her birthday. She said it was her favourite restaurant, so I figured this was money in the bank. She had three kids and I brought them as well. But then my gf insisted I bring her new housekeeper along, as she was very close with the family.

We get to the dinner and this housekeeper starts acting really odd. Keeps leaving the table for long periods of time. Reeking of booze. Dentures falling out. Just weird stuff. To be clear, this lady always acted a bit suspect. (Im pretty sure she threw a lemon at the back of my head once.)

Anyway, back to the dinner, we finally get our main courses. I ordered a jambalaya and told the waiter I had a spice allergy. After my first bite, my bodys reaction was swift – this was clearly a hot jambalaya. I started choking and the housekeeper performs the Heimlich on me and luckily the shrimp gets out.

But this is where it gets crazy. The housekeeper, whom I thought was this older English woman, was ACTUALLY HER EX-HUSBAND. The mask and makeup came apart when we fell to the ground during the Heimlich. He was dressing up as an older woman to spend time with his kids. This had been going on for months with no one noticing. (He does voices and was very believable but still).

The issue I have with Bridges is apparently he snuck in the kitchen and made my jambalaya spicy. Granted this is an extraordinary situation, but still they should be a little more aware of strangers getting in the kitchen and seasoning food. What if someone added almonds to a dish being served to someone with a severe nut allergy?

Anyway, I guess this is maybe less on Bridges and more on this my gfs ex-husband but still, I feel like Bridges staff should have noticed him in the kitchen. Obviously our dinner was ruined by the personal issues my gf had to deal with, but maybe Ill go back to Bridges and give it another shot. Cheers.

Yeah, you guessed it – this Mr Dunmeyer was some troll pretending to be Sam Dunmeyer, the man who dated Miranda Hillard in Mrs Doubtfire.

It turns out the restaurant where Robin Williams character gets caught out at in the 1993 comedy classic is a real place, and Bridges is proud of its link to Mrs Doubtfire.

On their about us section of their website, they say: After the release of the motion picture, Mrs. Doubtfire, in which one of the most memorable comedy “reveal” scenes of all time was filmed, Bridges Restaurant and Bar received nationwide acclaim. Nestled within the charming and vibrant East Bay enclave of downtown Danville, our distinctive atmosphere, exciting menu, and stellar service combined to put Bridges on the map.

All of the other reviews for Bridges dole out high praise, so we reckon we should let the jambalaya incident slide.

Mrs Doubtfire is celebrating its 25th anniversary next month (yep, youre that old) and in honour of the milestone, some of its stars have reunited.

Pierce Brosnan, who played Sam, met up with Lisa Jakub (Lydia), Matthew Lawrence (Chris) and Mara Wilson (Natalie) for an adorable family get together in Los Angeles.

Missing from the catch-up were Sally Field, who played the kids mother, and of course Robin Williams, who passed away in 2014.
