Pitso praises Downs technical team: ‘Local is lekker’

Cape Town – Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes his South African technical team are partly the reason for the Brazilians' success over the past few seasons.

Sundowns continued their positive start to 2018/19 when they defeated Bloemfontein Celtic last Saturday in the Telkom Knockout round of 16, booking their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Going into that game, the side had been prepared by assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi, goalkeeper coach Wendell Robinson as well as fitness trainer Kabelo Rangoaga.

Mosimane had been away in Morocco completing a module of his CAF Pro License and he left it to his technical staff to get Downs ready for the clash with Siwelele.

Speaking to his side's official website, he said: "I need to give credit to my technical team, they won us this game.

"They prepared the team. Coach Manqoba Mngqithi and coach Wendell Robinson prepared the team. Our match analysts did very well. KB (Kabelo Rangoaga), the fitness trainer did well. It's good to be surrounded by quality.

"I always boast about the technical team, that they're the best technical team in Africa. I think they are. Local is lekker. Boys from the township. I like my bench. My bench represents the country."

Downs are next in action on Saturday when they face Chippa United at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane.

Kick-off is at 20:15.
