Lacazette and Aubameyang are similar in their style of play and what they can bring to the Arsenal first team, but the Frenchman doesn't think they are in direct competition.

"Really, for me no," he told Sky Sports when asked if there is an edge to their relationship.

"If Auba score 40 goals and we go to the Champions League and we win something, too, I will be happy because this season, we just want to win something.

"There is no competition like who scores more goals on the weekend. Maybe in training because it is better to improve, but not at the weekend."

Lacazette has scored five goals in 10 appearances for the Gunners this season, while Aubameyang has bagged six in nine.

He added: "We just have fun, we laugh, but we work as well.

"People can see that we smile together, we are a good partnership. But when we have to work, we work. We know when we can work and when we can laugh, and we just enjoy laughing and football together.

"I've known him since we were in France and he knows me too. I know how he plays so our relationship is natural."
