Current MP Mark Coulton to contest the Federal seat of Parkes

Member for Parkes Mark Coulton will contest the Federal seat of Parkes for the fifth time.

Mr Coulton was successfully pre-selected by the National Party on Saturday and is looking forward to again contesting the seat after more than a decade in federal parliament.

“I am honoured to have been pre-selected by the National Party at the weekend,” Mr Coulton said.

“I have found it a privilege to represent the interests of the people of the Parkes electorate, and the diverse communities across nearly half the state.

“Eleven years as the Member for Parkes has given me a strong foundation and a keen knowledge of the rural and regional communities I represent.

“With many exciting projects in the pipeline, there are wonderful opportunities in this electorate for people, businesses and industry to flourish.

“I endeavour to continue to work hard for my constituents now and into the future,” he said.

The Parkes electorate consists of almost 400,000 square kilometres, covering 18 Local Government Areas as well as the Unincorporated Area of Far West NSW.

The electorate spans from the Queensland border in the North, to Lake Cargelligo, Tomingley and Ivanhoe in the South; from the South Australian border in the west to Gunnedah, Warialda and Coolah in the East.

Since its inception in 1984 the seat of Parkes has been held by the Nationals.
