Oscar Isaac has confirmed he will be taking a year off from acting after wrapping Star Wars: Episode IX.

The 39-year-old actor is currently in filming for the third and final installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, where he reprises his role as beloved Starfighter Corps commander Poe Dameron.

However, during a chat with IndieWire, Oscar revealed he will be stepping away from the movie industry after he has finished shooting his scenes for the J.J. Abrams-directed film, spending at least 12 months out of the spotlight.

I havent really stopped for 10 years, the star explained. Im just going to be with family and taking a bit of a rest.

Oscar Isaac has been tapped for an unknown role in upcoming The Batman movie.

The hiatus will mark a welcome break for Oscar, who has balanced a hectic work schedule starring in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi in recent years, but the Ex Machina star was quick to insist work pressures werent the reason behind his temporary Hollywood exit.

In fact, Oscar noted that the set of Star Wars: Episode IX, due out in 2019, had a noticeably more relaxed feel than that of previous films he had worked on and claimed it was all thanks to famed filmmaker Abrams.

The way theyve been shooting it right now is looser than its been for the last two times, the actor shared.

It does feel like a relief to get on set and feel like, “Oh, we can try things.” Its a testament to J.J. coming back and feeling confident. Theres less pressure for it to be right. We just want to make a good movie and have a really good time while doing it.

He added: Often, you do feel like youve got to find your way to make something more alive, but this time, its been the opposite. Theres no need to smuggle anything in there.
