Chow Yun-fat, a legendary actor most recently seen in Crazy Rich Asians, has announced he plans to donate his entire £543 million fortune to charity.

And he may just be the most generous man on the planet in doing so.

The 63-year-old, who hails from Hong Kong, only spends 800 HKD (£77.60) a month despite amassing his staggering fortune from appearances in blockbuster movies like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Bulletproof Monk.

In an interview with Jayne Stars, Chow admitted: The hardest thing in life is not about how much money you earn, but how to keep a peaceful mindset and live the rest of your life in a simple and carefree manner.

While budgeting can be difficult for many, Chow makes sure to live a very frugal lifestyle and only stopped using his Nokia flip phone recently after 17 years because it stopped working. The actor takes public transport, eats at food stalls and rarely buys new things.

Always on the hunt for a bargain by shopping at discount stores, Chow only wears comfortable clothing such as his 98 yuan (£9.50 shirt) and 15 yuan (£1.40) sandals.

Of his minimalist wardrobe, Chow told the publication: I dont wear clothes for other people. As long as I think its comfortable, then its good enough for me.

As if that wasnt impressive enough, Chows life motto and outlook on money is simply heartwarming and refreshing in todays era of extreme materialism.

He said: My dream is to be a happy and normal person. The hardest thing in life is not about how much money you earn, but how to keep a peaceful mindset and live the rest of your life in a simple and carefree manner.

The moneys not mine. Im only keeping it safe for the time being.

Chows wife, Jasmine Tar, is said to have disclosed his net worth previously. The couple launched their own charity several years but its thought that Chow will donate his sizeable fortune to various foundations.

What a selfless gesture!
