Coronation Street actor James Burrows is expecting a baby with his girlfriend Sophie Coates. The actor, who plays killer doctor Ali Neeson in the soap, announced the happy news in an Instagram post alongside a picture of a scan.
He wrote: Me and my beautiful girlfriend @sophie_coates are over the moon to announce that were having a baby. We can not contain our excitement we are so so happy x.
The 27-year-old actor has had many messages of congratulations from fans.
He is certainly going to be busy as he is at the centre of a major storyline in the soap that will pick up and explode in the run up to Christmas.
Last night, viewers saw Ali kill gangster Ronan to protect his family in high octane crash scenes. Corrie boss Iain MacLeod revealed that the scenes will set into motion the biggest winter stories on the cobbles.
Discussing the aftermath of the episodes, James told Metro.co.uk: Hes a doctor, hes a good lad and with a good upbringing. I think he had to make that decision to protect his family but the aftermath is haunting him – hes going through a lot of stuff and youll see it affect him emotionally. Its going to be a huge, emotional rollercoaster – well see him go through a whole process, its going to be a big one! When I got told the story, I understood it as a hard decision for him to make but he had to make that sacrifice.
He added: Hes worked very hard to become a doctor – its taken him years. Its ruined him that hes been suspended so there will be a lot more conflict between him and Ryan and it will be interesting.
