Could there be puppy love for Roy Cropper in Coronation Street? With a mother like Sylvia, Roy is used to women with acid tongues and a penchant for stirring trouble but when he comes to the aid of Evelyn Plummer, might they develop a close bond?
Evelyn has caused a bit of a stir since moving in with new found grandson Tyrone Dobbs – not least of all with Fiz who will soon be driven out by her antics as Jennie McAlpine goes on maternity leave.
But Evelyn has little time to dwell on causing a rift between Tyrone and Fiz as she soon has a missing pooch to find. When she is out walking her dog, Cerberus, it runs off and she is thrown into a panic.
She calls upon Tyrone and Roy to help her find the pet and she insists that they assist her in scaling a fence so that they can peer into someones garden. But as they look, the resident of the house is less than impressed and calls the police.
With Roy exasperated, he tries to calm Evelyn down as Craig Tinker arrives on the scene but she is irate and starts ranting. Will Craig be forced to arrest her? Or will Roy be able to solve the situation with his more logical and calm nature?
If Roy does help Evelyn evade arrest and also reunites her with her dog, he could win some affection from her. We have so far not seen a huge amount of evidence that Evelyn has a lot of love in her heart but every strong Coronation Street battleaxe has a human centre.
Might Roy have romance on the cards or will it be just a friendship on the cards? Hed certainly be kept on his toes, thats for sure!
The Coronation Street cast appeared to be having a great time filming the scenes on location, with Alan Halsall who plays Tyrone leaving his colleagues Maureen Lipman (Evelyn), David Neilson (Roy) and Colson Smith (Craig) in stitches between takes.
The scenes will air this winter.
