Halloween is approaching fast, and if youre not the sort to don a costume and paint the town with fake blood, you might want to stay in and watch a film.

Netflix has tons of great scary ones for the spooky season, from classics to new ones.

Here are our picks, if you can handle them.

The Shining

The Kubrick classic is worth a watch at any time of year, but particularly as a halloween tradition.

You might have seen Jack Nicholson chopping through that door a thousand times, but we bet it still makes the hairs on your arms stand up.

The Sixth Sense

Bruce Willis and a young Haley Joel Osment star in this creepy M. Night Shyamalan flick about a boy who can see ghosts.

If you havent been told the twist this many years on; well done, and enjoy.

The Village

Another M. Night Shyamalan movie, but this one is set in a historical (youve guessed it) village.

The inhabitants refuse to leave, due to fears about monsters that live in the woods, but when a boy gets sick and they need medicine, things need to change.

Raw

Fans of gore will love this movie about a girl who eats raw offal and gets a taste for flesh.

Its extremely graphic, so if thats not your bag then please avoid.

Children of the Corn

An oldie but a goodie, this chilling Stephen King movie is the story of an evil pied piper figure that encourages children to murder to improve their crops.

Very eerie, and will make you scared of little children for the rest of your life.

Hush

This is a slasher movie that will properly have you on the edge of your seat.

A deaf writer who lives on her own in the woods must defend herself from the masked killer she cannot hear.

The Babadook

Australian movie The Babadook became a gay cult classic last year, when people became convince that The Babadook was a member of the LGBT community.

It is actually scary, though, and a very worthwhile use of your halloween frightfest.

Hellraiser

Pinhead is the iconic character from the mind of horror legend Clive Barker.

He is the leader of a demonic group called the Cenobites, intent on having carnal experiences whatever the consequences.

The Invitation

When a dinner party in the Hollywood Hills becomes something much more sinister, who will survive?

Thats the question posed in this Karyn Kusama horror, which is made even more frightening by how real it feels.

Veronica

Apparently, this Spanish horror is so scary that it began trending, when viewers said in their thousands that they couldnt get through the whole thing as they were too frightened.

Its obviously not because of quality, as it has an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is pretty great for the genre.

Its about a girl who performs a seance during an eclipse with demonic consequences, and to make matters even worse its apparently based on a true story.

I nearly peed my pants watch Veronica on Netflix last night. Yet another reason to NOT do a Ouija board!!! #Veronica

Cabin Fever

If anything could make you less inclined to take a secluded trip to the woods with your mates its this.

Expect blood, gore, and lots of jumpy bits.

The Conjuring

This is another based-on-a-true-story film which will give you serious nightmares.

It follows the usual trope of a family who move into a haunted house, but the history behind it all is enough to give you the serious creeps.

Catch these all on Netflix now.
