AFL trade period live: Day three

Langdon has medical with Swans

Collingwood's Tom Langdon, who has a contract offer on the table from the Pies but is currently weighing up his options, has had a medical with Sydney.

Swans football manager Tom Harley told reporters on Wednesday the Swans had been "transparent" with Collingwood.

"He flew to Sydney yesterday and had a medical," Harley said.

"I think the incumbent club's always got the whip hand in that sense. We're just waiting for the finer details from that medical at this stage."

Langdon is reportedly set to travel to Africa, with Harley saying the Swans would need to "work on the wonders of technology to facilitate something".

"We'll need to work on the wonders of technology to facilitate something, but we've certainly got an interest," Harley said.

To stay or not to stay?

In case you missed it: Collingwood's Tom Langdon is weighing up his future. The Pies didn't give him a contract offer until after the grand final, and Langdon's manager Scott Lucas says he is considering his options, rather than just accepting the Pies' deal.

"The terms are always important and Collingwood have got some challenges around that. That is for them to work through," Lucas said on Macquarie Sports Radio.

List news from the Blues

Earlier today, Carlton list manager Stephen Silvagni told Trade Radio that there had not been much interest in Levi Casboult from other clubs and that he would likely be at the club next season.

However, Silvagni was unable to confirm whether Irishman Ciaran Byrne would still be at Princes Park in 2019.

"At this stage, we're unknown," he said on Byrne.

"He gets terribly homesick … not so much here, but when he gets home he finds it incredibly hard to come back." Silvagni said it was looking "grim" at the minute.

Why trading No.13 for later picks helps the Swans

Sydney have released a statement on the outcome of their part in the three-way McGovern deal.

The Swans traded out pick 13 as part of that deal and received 26, 28 and 40 in return. This gives them 1835 draft points as opposed to 1212 (pick 13's value) and will help them to match a potential bid for father-son prospect Nick Blakey.

"We're rapt with today's trade that will see us enter next month's AFL draft in a much stronger position," footy boss Tom Harley said.

"We have essentially secured an additional 600 draft points, which we can then use to move ourselves up the draft order and secure potential QBE Sydney Swans Academy players."
