Passenger injured after boarding bridge collapses at Pakistan airport (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

A metal bridge designed to allow passengers board aircraft has collapsed at Islamabad International Airport, injuring one person, according to reports from Pakistan.

The incident unfolded early on Tuesday morning on the apron of Pakistans second-busiest airport. According to Dawn newspaper, a passenger-bridge operator was injured when the metal walkway separated from the side of a plane. The exact cause of the incident has yet to be determined.

Pakistans new Islamabad International Airport opened earlier this year on May 8, replacing the now-defunct Rawalpindi International Airport. The new facility is expected to serve at least 25 million passengers per year.

RT.com has contacted the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority for further details.
