More rain expected in region after Dubbo got maximum last week
Dubbo received more than its entire monthly average October rain last week and it can expect another heavy spell on Friday, according to Weatherzone.
Dubbo received 62.8 millimetres between October 1 and October 7.
Its long-term monthly average for October is 46.6mm.
“It was so far the best rain in the area. We have noticed nothing as heavy as seen in the last week,” Weatherzone senior meteorologist Jacob Cronje said.
Mr Cronje said the other areas in the region, however, did not fare as well as Dubbo in the first week of October.
He said rain is expected in Dubbo from Wednesday, with a heavy spell on Friday.
The rain, which mostly fell on Thursday and Friday, was unevenly distributed across the region.
Orange, Lithgow, Cowra and Forbes received a good spell of showers compared with Bathurst, Oberon, Mudgee and Parkes.
Cowra recorded the second highest rainfall at 34.6mm, followed by Forbes (31.6mm), Orange Airport (31.4mm) and Lithgow (31.3mm) last week.
The places which had less than 20mm in rain were Bathurst Airport (16mm), Parkes Airport (9.2mm) and Mudgee (7.4mm).
Mr Cronje said isolated showers are expected in Bathurst and Orange during the week.
“A potential spell is expected on Friday but there are currently no signs of heavy rain,” he said.
