The Margaret River region will be on show in Singapore this week as part of a promotional campaign designed to position the area as a must-visit wine-tourism destination.
The week-long series of events has been organised by the Margaret River Wine Association, Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association, South West Development Commission and Australias South West in partnership with local businesses.
The events will include a showcase at Tamarind Hill on Thursday, October 11, that will give guests the chance to sample over 80 different wines and enjoy canapes prepared by chefs Tony Howell, of Margaret Rivers Cape Lodge restaurant, and Evan Hayter, of Arimia Winery and Restaurant.
Other events include a cabernet sauvignon masterclass, travel trade experience and an icon chardonnay degustation dinner.
South West Development Commission acting chief executive officer Rebecca Ball said the commission was thrilled to be part of the team behind a campaign that aimed to raise awareness of the region as a quality producer as well as a top tourist destination.
“This is a terrific way for residents of Singapore to enjoy the tastes and experiences of the Margaret River region,” she said.
“Its hoped theyll like what they sample and be inspired to experience more.
“The campaign complements our work to boost the local economy through facilitating trade and developing the South Wests tourism industry.”
Australias South West chief executive officer Catrin Allsop said Margaret River On Tour was a fantastic showcase of what Singaporeans could experience when they visited the Margaret River region.
“Not only will they meet some locals, share some stories, taste local produce and try world class wines and gin but get some inspiration for the diverse activities and adventures they can have across the seasons,” she said.
Ahead of the launch of Margaret River On Tour, which is a continuation of the First Class in Glass promotion, journalists from Singapore visited the region last week.
Jessica Chan from Epicure, Don Mendoza from Tatler and Emily Seow from City Nomads toured the area and had a behind the scenes look at Windows Estate with owners Chris and Jo Davies.
