The Autumn Sun leads Wallers spring carnival charge at Caulfield
Chris Waller will showcase the next tier of his stable at Saturday's Caulfield Guineas meeting with Golden Rose winner The Autumn Sun leading the charge.
Winx was once again supreme in the Turnbull Stakes but the support acts for the Melbourne spring are among the best horse in the country and are set to continue Waller's group 1 domination.
Kerrin McEvoy said following his win in the Golden Rose, The Autumn Sun would only improve as he steps up in trip and the mile of the Guineas should be to liking.
“He has travelled down well and settled into the stable at Flemington and we have thought that the mile would suit him all the way along,” Waller said. “It is another challenge for him on Saturday.”
It will be the first time for The Autumn Sun gone the Melbourne direction but the form around his two group 1 wins, the JJ Atkins and Golden Rose wins, continues to stand up. Sesar, which fourth in the JJ Atkins, returning a winner in the Roman Consul Stakes on Saturday.

The Autumn Sun is a $2.50 favourite for the Guineas and Waller will have runners in each of the four Caulfield group 1 races and all of them will be near the top of betting.
Epsom placegetter Dargento and Unforgotten lining up in the Caulfield Stakes and Flight Stakes runner-up Fiesta heading down for the Thousand Guineas.
Noire, which got the better of Youngstar in the Shannon Stakes last month, will get her chance at group 1 level in the Toorak Handicap, where Shillelagh could also run.
