Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic about one of the biggest rock bands in history, is just a week away from premiering.

But Brian May has revealed its taken 10 years to get to this point.

Through production issues, creative differences, and the loss of Sacha Baron Cohen, who left over his and Brians opposing views of the movie, its taken a decade to get it right, with it culminating with a huge premiere being held at Wembley Arena on 23 October, right next door to where their most iconic gig took place at Live Aid in 1985.

Speaking with The Mirror, Brian said We have one shot to make the Freddie movie and this is it.

Brian himself wasnt always on board with the project, admitting he had to be convinced into bringing Freddies story to life.

I took a bit of convincing whether the film should be made because Freddie was so unique – but if we dont somebody else will. And we want to make sure it is done right, he said.

Production on the epic movie began in 2010, with ideas being formed for a couple of years before that. Rami was later brought on board in 2016 to take on the role of Freddie Mercury.

Brian is absolutely sure their lead man was the right choice, praising Rami Maleks performance as the legend as being instinctive.

He said he: Instinctively found Freddies inner sensitivities and insecurities that balanced and drove the powerful rock star, innovator, and liver of life. He added that no one else could have done a better a job.

Bohemian Rhapsody hits cinemas on 24 October.
