Alright, ladies get into formation. Or not, according to James Bonds executive producer.

The famous fictional spy will probably never be played by a woman, according to the franchises executive producer Barbara Broccoli.

As we wonder who will be picked to play 007, Barbara admitted she doesnt believe the films are feminist.

Speaking to the Guardian, she said it was unlikely Daniel Craigs successor as the British spy would be a woman.

Bond is male. Hes a male character. He was written as a male and I think hell probably stay as a male, she said.

And thats fine. We dont have to turn male characters into women. Lets just create more female characters and make the story fit those female characters.

Pitching in with her thoughts on why the franchise is not and will not be a woman, Barbara explained people often reference those early movies.

She said: It was written in the 50s, so theres certain things in (Bonds) DNA that are probably not gonna change.

Her words come after one-time Bond Girl actress Gemma Arterton defied her former bosses at the risk of getting in so much trouble and rewrote her role in 2008s Quantum of Solace.

God forbid anyone would reject the advances of James Bond, but this is what would have happened if Strawberry Fields had.

Penning an alternative ending for her character, who dies the morning after seducing Daniel Craigs Bond, Gemma imagines saying no to the fella in Scarlett Curtis new book Feminists Dont Wear Pink… and Other Lies.

Ive written this short story which I could get in so much trouble for, Gemma admits, introducing her short tale about a Bond Woman, entitled Woke.

Im not interested in flirting with you – Im here to work, Strawberry Fields tells James Bond when she first meets him.

She then tells him she wont follow him to his hotel room, where the character strips naked for 007 not long after meeting him in the original story, and walks away from him unharmed.

Gemma writes: “No thank you,” I say. Maybe he is attractive, but hes at least 20 years older than me, weve only just met, hes a colleague…

Plus this man has a reputation. Dont women who go up to his hotel room and sleep with him usually die in some horrific yet iconic way? No, no. Not me.

In that moment Bond tells her if she wasnt so uptight hed be able to advance her career.

We like it.
