Hawks to host pre-season club match this weekend

What a win. Against the odds, coming from behind, the pressure of a state. Well done to the West Coast Eagles on their AFL premiership. Now it is time for cricket! The Margaret River Hawks Cricket Club is gearing up for the season opener in only two Saturdays time.

Saturday October 13 will see the Hawks push for a strong start to the new season. With fixtures still to come out, the club cant yet confirm where and who they will play; but you can bet your bottom dollar the club is excited for the season ahead.

Training is on in earnest with 2017/18 Clubman of the Year Shane Joyce taking the reins while a couple more training announcements will be up on the clubs Facebook page very soon.

The Hawks is your local club with a strong community perspective. As a community group, the Hawks are looking for more players, sponsors and volunteers.

What can the Hawks offer you as a player? Lifelong mates. Cherished memories. Worldwide experiences. A sense of belonging. A home away from home.

As a volunteer? An opportunity to help your local cricket club continue to grow and the feeling of pride that brings.

As a sponsor? Fantastic exposure within the club and community and the knowledge you are helping a club that gives back the community both local and internationally.

We encourage our junior players to be a strong and integral part of the Hawks – without the juniors of today, we dont have the elders of tomorrow.

We also encourage all FIFO workers who are interested in becoming a Hawk to get in touch with us. The Hawks can cater for players that are only available every second week, or once every four.

The next season…

We have seen the most enjoyable and entertaining pre-season training for many seasons, but we still need more numbers on the park. With three teams nominated, the most from the AMR Shire, the club requires close to 50 players to cover for work, holidays and injuries.

We encourage anybody interested to come down and join one of the most successful sporting clubs in the region. Accepting players at all cricketing levels is what makes the Hawks such a wonderful club to be a part of. From the most experienced and decorated player on the list to the beginner; you will simply be a Hawk.

A pre-season intra club match this weekend will be a great hit out for the upcoming year; and with training on Thursday nights from 4.30pm, in the newest training facilities in the shire, now is the perfect time to become a Hawk.
