Tom Hardy asks for the Ben Affleck treatment as he becomes Sound of Silence meme
Tom Hardy has got what he asked for, after a bit of a (comically) awkward interview alongside Riz Ahmed for their new movie Venom, which premiered overnight in the US.
After he was asked what his favourite scene to film was, Tom gave the rather non-PR friendly line that his best scenes were cut from the film, not holding back in showing his feelings towards the directors choice.
There are, like, 30 to 40 minutes worth of scenes that arent in this movie … all of them, he said when asked in an interview with ComicsExplained about the moves he most liked to film. Mad puppeteering scenes, dark comedy scenes.
You know what I mean? They just never made it in.
Ah you can just see the pain on the poor guys face!
While chatting alongside Riz, his co-star quipped that perhaps they didnt make it in because they werent very good.

Ouch!
Tom felt the burn, as he said: Doesnt mean they were any good? Is that what youre saying? That they werent no good?
He then invited the world to create a meme out of him, as he said: That The Sound of Silence plays on my face.
Hello darkness my old friend…
It probably comes as no real surprise it took less than a day for fans to respond to Toms request and create a video of him with the real Sound of Silence treatment a la Ben Affleck.
For those playing catch-ups, Ben became a bit of a pop culture meme during a joint interview with Henry Cavill last year for Batman V Superman in 2016.
After the interviewer mentioned the fact the movie wasnt getting the best reviews at the time, Henry started to answer the question as Ben stared off into the distance looking rather melancholy.
More: Ben Affleck
Toms pursuit is a little more comedic, we must confess, as he did ask for the whole thing.
What did he expect?
The collective of the internet to just sit back and NOT turn him into a meme?
Venom is in cinemas 5 October.
