Nicola Roberts has opened up on working with BFF Cheryl on her latest album, giving us a tiny glimpse of what we can expect from the song-writing duo.

While Cheryls latest tunes are being kept well under wraps as to keep us well on our toes, the former Girls Aloud singers started working on the album last year. That we know.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk as she teamed up with Virgin Mobile to call for red head emojis on iOS, the 32-year-old revealed the album she made with Cheryl is all locked away now, in the final production processes.

Weve finished, Nicola told us. I started writing for her the end of last year and we spent predominantly the first seven months doing it together, but we are done.

Little is known about Cheryls next move – only that the first song will apparently be called Love Made Me Do It and thats its a edgy dance track with a swear or three and give it to us already – but Nicola revealed her tingling anticipation as to the release of the yet-to-be-titled album – adding Cheryl is in a great place right now.

Im really excited for her. I feel like shes in a great place musically and because weve written everything together it feels so authentic to her, she said.

You can hear lyrically everything in the music. I feel really excited shes been in control of her records this time and were both really proud of what the record weve made for her.

Pundits have speculated the whole album is a set of breakup tunes following the demise of Cheryls relationship with Liam Payne earlier this year, Nicola – who co-wrote the songs, but wont be singing in any of them – kept schtum on what we can expect, though.

She said: Its a thing for her to talk about, and its something Im sure shell explain in due course.

Guess well have to wait and hear for ourselves…

While Nicolas half-way through her own album, in teaming up with Virgin to spread awareness for the plight of the redhead emoji, the singer admitted shes all for her pale skin and red hair – its something she wholeheartedly embraces, so much so she pulled a Kim Kardashian and created her own set of Gimojis.

Nicola admitted that while shes always loved her hairs hue, it took a long time for her to stop chasing the tan and become comfortable in her own skin.

Im one of those people who likes to be the only redhead in the village. Its brilliant to me, I absolutely love having red hair. I love being ginger and I love my specific colouring, she said.

I just didnt like my skin tone. I used to pray and wish I had skin that was able to tan. I always had a family that instilled in me red hair was my superpower and how it was such a lovely thing.

She added her skin was something she felt embarrassed about and was so insecure she feared anyone seeing too much of it.

I hated being pale, I wouldnt get changed in front of anybody. I went through this extensive tanning stage just because I hated it, she said. I felt embarrassed about how my body looked being so pale.

But really it was the projection of that time of how I thought other people saw me, instead of really accepting myself.

I got over it and now Im like, “thank god Im this pale, and I have red hair”, Im grateful to have it.
