The first trailer for Rocketman has dropped and sees Targon Egertons Elton John party too hard and end up in hospital.

In fact, hes seen accidentally dive almost head first into a pool, seemingly in a drug-addled stupor before being rolled on a gurney through a hospital with an oxygen mask on his face as the movie follows the legendary singers early music career.

The fast-paced clip sees Elton in the studio as well as performing on stage, and receiving a cheeky wink from Richard Maddens character.

Taron, however, has said the film is not entirely true to life, dubbing instead a fantastical musical.

Its actually his songs used to express important beats in his life at emotional moments, Taron said. Hes not the only character that sings. Its going to be fun.

Its the first proper look at both Taron Egerton and Richard Madden, who plays John Reid – Elton Johns former love, in their roles after pictures were released on set of John giving Elton a big old slap around the face.

Reid was Eltons lover and former manager for 30 years, however the two felt out over the singers finances.

Rocketman is the epic uncensored human story of Sir Elton Johns breakthrough years, also starting Jamie Bell and Bryce Dallas Howard.

The movie is due for a May 2019 release.
