Pep hails Sterling and Sane impact for Man City
Cape Town – Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola praised the performances of forwards Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane after Saturday's 2-0 win over Brighton.
Sterling turned the game for the reigning Premier League champions just before the 30-minute mark as he arrived in the box to finish off Sane's cross for the opening goal of the contest.
The England international then produced a superb assist for Sergio Aguero's second goal as his pass sent the Argentina star through and he finished with aplomb at the Etihad Stadium.
Sterling has been criticised in the past for his decision-making and tendency to miss chances, whereas, Sane was out of the starting line-up in the early weeks of 2018/19.
However, both players appear to now be hitting their straps for the Citizens.
Speaking to the club's official website, Guardiola said: "It is not only goals that are important for a striker. The way he (Sterling) arrives in the box, he wants to score.
"He was also so clever with the assist. The pass to Sergio was outstanding. It was another good performance for him.
"Leroy has played really good last few games as well. He will be important for us. Our profession is so demanding, we have to do our best every single day. I want all of my players to be focused."
