CHANCE! Patosi is teed up with a return pass from the right after charging forward and releasing the ball to Links, but fires off target!
Lakay makes way for SuperSport United and is replaced by Lungu.
Links gives the ball to Mkhize on the right and gets it back inside the box. However, his strike isn't a clean one. SuperSport are let off the hook again.
Lakay is limping badly. This is worrying for Kaitano Tembo. It looks as if the Matsatsantsa player's hamstring is hurting.
At the other end, Patosi gets the ball into the danger area from City's left. However, Links hasn't made the run he was looking for and there's nobody there to turn it into the net.
CHANCE! SuperSport hit City with another quick counter. Rusike gets the ball from Mokoena and gets in behind, but the chasing City defenders recover. Kouadja nearly puts the ball into his own net by mistake, but turns it behind safely.
CHANCE! Edmilson crosses from the left. This time, the ball in is wonderful. Putsche should score, but heads off target! McCarthy must wish he could put himself up top to finish these chances!
POST! My word! How did that stay out? Nodada goes for goal from long range and hits the upright. Mthembu is there on the follow-up, but doesn't catch the rebound properly. Williams catches his close-range shot. McCarthy looks furious!
SAVE! There we go — Putsche passes the ball straight to Evans Rusike in a dangerous area. He goes for goal from outside the box. Leeuwenburgh makes a good diving stop, tipping his effort behind. The ensuing corner sees the ball headed wide.
City are allowing SuperSport to hit them on the counter far too easily. However, neither goalkeeper has had much to do so far.
City give the ball away in the middle of the park again, allowing a couple of long-range shots from Matsatsantsa. Both are blocked.
Even though I've defended Daniels for that handball appeal, it must be pointed out that harsher penalties have been given in football. To an extent, he was lucky to get away with that. Could have gone either way.
Mkhize bombs forward again for City and looks to get the ball into the danger area. He shouts for a handball from Daniels, who blocks his cross with his arm. Not given! It would have been harsh if it were. He barely had time to pull the arm away.
A SuperSport corner is headed to Furman, who has a shot from outside the box. The powerful effort is blocked, but that's just a reminder of Matsatsantsa's attacking intent.
After a patient build-up from City, Edmilson Dove misplaces his pass and SuperSport can restart from the back through Williams. The Mozambican will need to play with more precision than he has so far.
There's no indication at this point of any serious damage to Rusike. Play continues and Patosi has a shot at goal. However, he is blown up for a handball as he does so — and it's definitely the correct decision.
Evans Rusike is down receiving medical attention. I think he got hurt by the challenge of Thamsanqa Mkhize.
Modiba charges down SuperSport's left, but Mngonyama takes the ball off him.
CHANCE! SuperSport pinch the ball in the middle of the park and surge forward. Lakay gets the final shot away on the turn, but fires off target.
Edmilson crosses from City's left, but he overhits his ball in and nobody can get on the end of it.
City look dangerous in the opening minutes. They're doing most of the attacking and appear to be targeting the left side of the Matsatsantsa defence.
The free-kick delivery from Modiba is a dangerous one. City scramble the ball behind for a corner. Modiba takes, but Martin gets the clearing header in. City look to counter through Links, but SuperSport get the ball back.
Lakay looks to waltz through the City defence. He's cynically tripped by Nodada. Matsatsantsa have the first free-kick of the game. Perhaps City are lucky it's just that.
KICK-OFF! The match is underway. SuperSport United get the ball rolling at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The teams are out on the field. Before kick-off, there's a moment of silence for Edna Molewa following the Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs' recent passing.
Both coaches are chasing what would be maiden trophies for them. Benni McCarthy is in his second season in charge of City, while Tembo has only recently been promoted, having previously been an assistant coach.
In last year's MTN8 final, Matsatsantsa beat the Citizens in a penalty shootout. However, the last time these sides met, City beat Kaitano Tembo's side 2-0 in the Absa Premiership. Since then, SuperSport have been in fine form.
