Country Womens Association Far Western group news

The Group Annual Conference is to be held at Nyngan on October 13.

All positions will be declared vacant and we hope there will be many members willing to take on a job for the next twelve months.

The Conference will be opened by Mrs Mary Lamph, a long time member of the Association, and the guest speaker will be Rev Graham McLeod.

We look back on a difficult year of drought which has affected those in towns as well as on the land. CWA has been given the task of distributing donated goods which is not an easy task.

ALSO MAKING NEWS:

Donations of money have been made to the Disaster Fund, which is administered by Head Office, as donors know their money will be given where needed. People from all over the country have been really touched and have been very generous.

Narromine Branch organised the Public Speaking competition which gave children from our outlying schools valuable experience in speaking before an audience.

Several branches assist with education expenses by awarding local education grants and we are really appreciative of the grants provided by our city cousins in the Phillip Group.

They are aware of the distances our children must travel to get a secondary education.

Our recent Cultural Day, hosted by Hermidale Branch provided much laughter, the best medicine in times of stress.

We shall look back on the years activities, which always make one proud of the way the Branches care for those in their community. We hope that new members will join us as we begin our new CWA year.

Congratulations must go to our Group Handicraft Officer, Mrs Denise Turnbull, who has obtained her Proficiency Certificate as a handicraft judge.

We hope many members will come along to the Group Annual Conference and perhaps bring a friend.

Nyngan Branch will need an idea of numbers for catering.
