BTS RM reveals nerves at United Nations speech on Jimmy Fallon: I was shaking
BTS RM impressed the world when he and the rest of his group stood in front of the UN and delivered an impassioned speech.
The speech went viral as the septet made history in being the first South Korean music group to speak at the United Nations and as RM, the groups leader, paid tribute to the Army, their legion of dedicated fans.
Speaking about his speech on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, RM revealed his nerves almost got the better of him.
I was so nervous, RM told Jimmy. Im holding up the paper and if you see Im shaking. It was a big deal.
When asked what the groups message was, RM explained: The message is about speaking yourself instead of letting other people speak to you, to truly know yourself, know who I am and what my voice is.
We want to stay humble and enjoy the ride.
Suga added that their plan next is to get to the Grammys.

We can get them a Grammy! Jimmy declared.
During his UN speech, RM spoke of how he found his own voice through music.
I would look up at the night sky and wonder . . . I used to imagine I was a superhero who could save the world, he said. In the intro to one of our old songs, theres a line that says my heart stopped when I was maybe nine or 10. Looking back, that is when I began to worry about what other people thought of me and started seeing myself through their eyes.
I stopped looking up at the night sky and daydreaming.
Soon I began to shut out my own voice and start to listen the voices of others, he continued.
There was a small voice that said, “Wake up man and listen to yourself”. But it took me quite a long time to hear music calling my real name.
Even after making the decision to join BTS, some people might not believe it, but some people thought we were hopeless, and sometimes I wanted to quit.
However, he added he was lucky he didnt give it all up, as he said: Im sure I, and we, will keep stumbling and falling like this. I am an ordinary 24-year-old guy. If there is anything Ive achieved its only possible if have my other BTS members right by my side and because of the love and support our Army fans made for us.
