Neighbours praised for best episode ever as David and Aaron marry in first gay wedding on Australian TV

Its finally happened, David and Aaron got hitched!

Nawww, what a beautiful day that was! After a few little hiccups, namely Aarons back going into spasm, and a whole hoohar about Susan cancelling but not cancelling as celebrant, it all went ahead nicely and was easily one of the most happy emotional episodes in the shows 33 years.

While for some the day was literally shit on a stick (looking at Susan there, who had a run in with dog poo), for viewers, watching David and Aaron get married was quite the moment, leaving many in tears with the beautiful sentiment and the romance of the whole thing.

The episode was even branded one of the shows best ever and the best soap wedding as the two finally tied the knot, with Magda Szubanski playing the eccentric celebrant Jemima Davies-Smythe.

The show was also praised for the nostalgic nod back to the other epic Neighbours wedding, Scott and Charlenes, as Aaron walked (or staggered!) up the aisle to the song Especially For You, sung by Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan.

Anyone else tearing up at Kylie and Jason being played at the #neighbours wedding? Just me then?!!

Prior to the show, the Neighbours cast revealed to Metro.co.uk what an honour it was to be involved in such an occasion, even for those who didnt feature in the episode.

The next episode will see Paul Robinson give his father of the groom speech, which will no doubt be a moment not to be missed, as David finally finds out what happened with Aarons back.

Theres also drama as Leo misses the family photos because hes secretly between the sheets with Pauls ex Terese. Oh good grief, is Lerase a thing?!

Neighbours airs at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
