Flying high thanks to Life Charity Focus fundraiser ball
The Walis family have experienced a trip of a lifetime enjoying a helicopter ride over the Sydney harbour, after purchasing the flight in an auction at Nyngans Life Charity Focus fundraiser ball in March earlier this year.
LCF is a community based, non-profit organisation operating in Eastern Uganda in the Budaka district, that aims to help children and their communities be able to live a meaningful and sustainable life.
The charity was established in 2015 by Moses Gorie, a former sponsor child of Jack and Dione Carter from Nyngan, NSW.
Through fundraising and major sponsors, a private school was built by LCF at Budaka in 2016.
The ball in Nyngan is the charitys biggest fundraiser, and has been held annually for the past five years raising thousands of dollars with all proceeds going to LCF.
This year the ball raised $39,500 with 250 people in attendance and went towards more classrooms at the private school, plus boarding houses, a kitchen and many more projects.
Due to its growing popularity and sponsor parents hailing from Dubbo, the committee decided to hold the charity ball at the Dubbo Turf Club in October.
LCF ball organiser Dione Carter said she hopes the Dubbo fundraiser can get similar, if not more people in attendance. Proceeds from the Dubbo charity ball will help finish building at the school.
About 100 children in Uganda are sponsored through LCF and there are approximately 35 sponsor parents throughout the Nyngan and Dubbo community.
Mrs Carter gave a big thank you to the community for their ongoing support.
“Wed like to thank Jameil and Lachlan for their support at the auction for Life Charity Focus earlier this year, and are so glad they enjoyed the flight,” Mrs Carter said.
“Also a big thank you to Heliflite for donating the helicopter flight over Sydney harbour for the auction at LCF,” she said.
The ball will be held at the Dubbo Turf Club on Saturday, October 20. Tickets are $95 per person and can be purchased from lcfball2018.iwannaticket.com.au.
