Boris Johnson, former Foreign Secretary, former London Mayor and former journalist at the Times – until they sacked him for making up quotes – has criticised the governments proposal for a Brexit deal, claiming it is the equivalent of a fixed wrestling match, which the EU will win. If the EU negotiators dont accept this deal, known as the Chequers Plan, its likely that the UK will leave with no deal at all.

Cobblers. What has Mrs May been doing for the last two years if its not trying. The scandal of Brexit is YOU, Boris Johnson pic.twitter.com/3CudCy1RTi

His comment has been received with a healthy dose of cynicism.

If only Boris Johnson had held, say, one of the great offices of State with, say, particular influence over foreign policy for the last two years. The current chaos would surely have been prevented.

Whatever ⁦@BorisJohnson⁩s skills, wooing the young Brexit vote is not one of them. Does anyone under 40 know even that there was a time when British wrestling was a big TV thing? pic.twitter.com/wdh9kPgbLF

If only Brexit were as easy as writing yet another rousing Telegraph column.

It is as if a couple of years as an actual cabinet minister had no effect on Boris Johnson.

Reverting to type ((literally).

Victory for Brussels has been inevitable ever since people were duped into thinking that Boris Johnson knew what he was talking about. https://t.co/y5ypewqZVZ

So to "failed Brexit minister David Davis" we can add "failed foreign secretary Boris Johnson". He's literally admitting he failed to achieve anything in office. https://t.co/5g7h4UpPhY

I see Poundland Brutus has written his article again. As hopeless as May's plan is, at least it's a plan. Until and unless he is able to outline a coherent alternative Johnson should lower his volume. pic.twitter.com/qYl2ntaXFf

If only Boris Johnson had occupied one of four major offices of state and been in cabinet for last 2 years. Could all have been different.
