Eminem surprised fans everywhere by dropping his 10th album Kamikaze without warning this morning.

The 13-track album features music from the Venom soundtrack and contributions from Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver), Royce Da 59”, Joyner Lucas and Jessie Reyez.

However, while fans of the rapper may be delighted with new music, one song in particular has sparked backlash.

On the track Fall, which features Justin Vernon, Eminem uses a homophobic slur against Tyler, The Creator.

The song hears the 45-year-old, real name Marshall Mathers III, rap: Tyler create nothing, I see why you called yourself a f****t, bitch / its not just cause you lack attention / its cause you worship D12s balls, youre sacrilegious.

Tyler, 27, has been heavily criticised himself for his use of homophobic slurs in his music, but lyrics on his 2017 album Flower Boy suggested that he was coming out as gay.

Eminems use of a gay slur in this, the year 2018, has infuriated many, who have taken to social media to accuse the rapper of homophobia:

Can't even say I'm surprised that Eminem is still using homophobic slurs in 2018 bc he's a fucking child but Justin Vernon, what the hell are you doing on the track man. pic.twitter.com/z2ySJBNF85

Eminem has been accused of homophobia on multiple occasions over the years, with the slur f****t used in many of his songs.

Possibly the worst example of this is his 2000 song Criminal, which includes the lyrics: My words are like a dagger with a jagged edge/ That will stab you in the head/ Whether youre a f** or les/ Or the homo-sex, hermaph, or a transavest/ Pants or dress, hate f**s? the answers “yes”.

Eminem has denied being homophobic, telling Rolling Stone in 2013: I dont know how to say this without saying it how Ive said it a million times… But those kind of words, when I came up battle-rappin or whatever, I never really equated those words [with being gay].

It was more like calling someone a bitch or a punk or asshole… I poke fun at other people, myself. But the real me sitting here right now talking to you has no issues with gay, straight, transgender, at all.

Elton John famously performed with Eminem at the 2001 Grammys, with the pair holding hands after a performance of Stan.

Last year, Elton told Zane Lowe: For me, Eminem was never homophobic. I listened to the whole of the Marshall Mathers album when I drove to a show in South Hampton and I was floored by it. And I thought how could anyone think this is… hes just writing about the way things are. Not how he thinks, but the way things are.

I did the Grammys with Marshall and I became very big friends with Marshall. Ill fight for anyone who is misunderstood and misrepresented by the idiots out there.
